Miami football trending for four-star TE Riley Williams

The Miami football program is trending for 2023 four-star tight-end prospect Riley Williams. Williams has picked up crystal balls from 247 Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman and Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong. Williams is also trending to Miami at 93.2 percent from the On3 prediction machine.

Williams eliminated Oregon from earlier consideration on Tuesday. Oregon was supposed to have an official visit from Williams this weekend. Alabama and Ohio State are the other two programs Williams named as finalists. Williams also tweeted on Tuesday that he will have a commitment announcement on July 1.

The 247 Sports composite rankings have Williams as the 66th player, second TE and number one in Oregon in the Class of 2023. Williams would be the third TE to commit to Miami for 2023. The Miami football program has received commitments from three-star TEs Jackson Carver and Reid Mikeska who started playing football later.

Carver has been a hockey and lacrosse star in Minnesota. Mikeska grew up playing basketball until joining the Bridgeland High School football program in Cyprus, Texas. Williams had 29 receptions for 509 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021 at Portland Oregon Central Catholic. Signing three TEs in the same class is unusual.

This would be the second straight recruiting class that Miami would beat out Alabama from an elite TE. Miami flipped former Alabama commit Jaleel Skinner in the 2022 signing class. Skinner was the 102nd-ranked player and third TE in the Class of 2022. Elijah Arroyo signed with Miami as the seventh-ranked TE in 2021.

A commitment from Williams would move the 2023 Miami class into the top 20, ahead of Iowa State and slightly behind West Virginia. That would put Miami fourth in the ACC. Clemson currently has the sixth-best Class for 2023, Louisville is 11th and Boston College 17th. Miami currently has the 30th best 2023 class in the nation.
